Great Commission or Great Community

Updated: Aug 21, 2021

If I had to choose from:

A church with a great commissioning message with an unsettling community

or

A church with a great community with a settling message?

A commissioning focused church is dynamic and risk-taking. However, can be quite lonely at times as the community can have constant changes, multiplication, and outward-looking.

Whereas A community-focused church is warm, consistent, grows, and encourages each other but doesn't like change and inward-looking.

It’s a tough choice and we need a bit of both sides. Only the Holy Spirit will illuminate His words to teach us to walk in His will.

And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name, they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Mark 16:15-18

And He answered, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength and with all your mind and your neighbor as yourself." Luke 10:27
